Thumbs up Wolves, coyotes and Scouts oh my!

Just a couple of laughs from this weekends Boy Scout camp out, weather was 55 deg daytime with the wind pushing 30mph and it subsided to 10-15 overnight. I introduced some members of our troop to the hammock as this was all foreign to them. I brought my XLC/Superfly, incubator 20 and a WM Kodiak for top insulation.

The wolves serenaded us for one half hour starting at 3:15 am and the coyotes made their presence known as well at 6:45 am. For those that have not heard wolves howling in the wild there is really no describing it, absolutely beautiful.

When we awoke to 29 deg. at 7:30 am people were wondering how I fared in the hammock as a lot of them got cold in the night, I merely smiled and said "slept like a baby, only to be interrupted by the wolves." Then right back to bed, **** great gear sure does put the icing on the cake.

Sounds like a great trip. While we don't have the wolves we do have coyotes.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

Who caused more trouble the Scouts or the wolves and coyotes? In my experience as a assistant scoutmaster, the Scouts are generally the guilty ones.
    Is it hang time yet?

We worked on the canoeing merit badge, then some other book requirements. We try not to give them much time to get into trouble.....grin

Never heard wolves, but have heard coyotes many times. A couple weeks ago, at Green Timbers in the Pigeon River State Forest (near Vanderbilt, Michigan), I experienced bugling elks. Kind of creepy sounding, but it was pretty cool hearing them as we sat around the fire along the river.
