    Newbie Delurking

    Hi All,
I've been lurking here and dreaming of owning my own hammock since I first encountered hammock camping back in April on a Boy Scout trip with my son. Several of the other adults had hammocks, and were kind enough to let me try them out.

Fast forward to today - when my wife got me a HH Explorer Deluxe for my birthday with the larger Hex tarp and snakeskins!

Just thought it was time to de-lurk and say thank you to all the members here who's posts have provided me with a lot of valuable information! I'm now looking forward to going back out with the scouts, instead of dreading waking up on a rock...

    Thanks again,
    Mike

Before you head back out with the scouts make sure you get some practice time in the back yard or local park or something. The explorer is a very fine hammock (I have one) but it has its own quirks as do all of them. You don't need a lot of time if you have been studious in the reading. But if you have been studious in the reading you also know that everyone has a different approach to various things which works best for them. Have fun.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

    Welcome to the hammock world!!!

You will never sleep in a tent again.

It nice to see someone else in my area of the woods. We're almost neighbors.

Presently I use my hammock for Scout outings (Troop 207) too.
we'll have to meet up sometime, and swap scouting and hammock stories.

You can't wait for Christmas to get an underquilt and a topquilt, so you'll have to buy your own!
