Welcome to the addiction. Tons of great info and even more experience. Ask all questions. Someone will be able to answer.

There's a 'chapter' so to speak in your area too that does group hangs: Palmetto State Hangers. Look for them on here.

Welcome aloft from McCormick, SC. There are two hangs this weekend. One at Raven Cliff west of Helen, Ga. and another one at Parson's Mountain near Abbeville, SC. A couple Palmetto State Hangers will be at the Parson's Mountain Hang. I am headed to Raven Cliffs. Hope you can make one of them. You can learn a lot at a hang, and meet some wonderful folks. See you in the woods.

    Welcome from Irmo, near Columbia.

Palmetto State Hangers is hosting the Frozen Butt hang in January (check out our Facebook page for the dates or the trip planning thread on this forum) that you're more than welcome to join us for, even if for just a day to check out some setups and get some barbecue in you.

If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with any of us from PSH and we're glad to help out!

+1 on what Cali said. I recommend attending a group hang, even if you don't have the gear to stay overnight, or have to bring a tent.

Before too long, PSH will have a loaner gear program JUST for this sort of situation courtesy of our fine cottage industry sponsors. If you show up to one before we have that in place, we've got folks with superfluous gear that you'd be welcome to borrow.

GrannyPat, how could you even SUGGEST such a thing!?

Just want people to know that all are welcome, even tent dwellers. My husband comes to hangs in a pop-up camper! But, like you said, most people will help out a new hanger if they want to try out some gear or are missing a piece of equipment.

    Truer words were never spake.

I expected some folks to show up to the hang I hosted last weekend in campers or tents but surprisingly, none did. I was relieved.
