    Hello From Arizona

    Hello,

Here in Az, So for a while now I have been looking into hammocks. I am starting to get into backpacking and really want a hammock I've been car camping since I was little and have always enjoyed it. But sleeping on the ground is starting to become a pain lol. When I go hunting I use a cot but not when I car camp. The thing is I'm a bigger guy 5'9 290 want to get into hiking to start trying to llooseweight again. Because of shug and sintax77 hammocks look really comfy. I been looking at the emo hammock but don't know. If anyone has any information for me I would appreciate it. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Tony

    Welcome neighbor!

There is lots of great info and people here. As for ENO, it can hold your weight without a problem. I've had far more weight than 290 lbs in mine. You might be better served with a longer hammock, though.

10 foot is usually the minimum.

You'll easily fit in the ENO, but a longer hammock can increase your comfort by usually giving a flatter lay.

Not necessary, but I'd consider it for a beginner. Just because once it is set where you like it, it stays set.
It's nice not having to get out and readjust my hammock to get a good lay. I'm not near experienced enough to hit that sweet spot every time, so the ridge line is great because my pitch angle is one less thing I have to worry about.

Hey Welcome..... If you're interested and can spend a little money go with one of the cottage vendors here and go right for the 11'er. You can get an 11" from dutch for $35 as a starter and you'll need suspension. Forget the ENO...they are fine, I have one but you can get a much better set up for the same or cheaper. Adding a ridgeline will give you a consistent lay...83% of hammock length
