    Been a long time since high school math but I think 7/64 + 1/64 = 8/64 = 1/8. Yes?
And in Dutch's video that green line from the tree/strap to the Speed Hook looks more like 1/4" or better to me. I'm not carping or nit-picking but am a might confused.
7/64" minimum break strength is 1400 lbs.
1/8" minimum break strength is 2300 lbs.

I'd call that a significant difference.

That said, the 7/64" covers any hanging needs this 200lb'er needs.

The speed hooks are tiny making the amsteel look large. Compared to Dutch's fingernails, I'd say the green is 7/64"

That is 7/64ths. It use to be a whoopie that I cut to play with concepts for a single line suspension device. I was a little embarrassed because it was well warn you can see that on the vid.

I installed the new speed hook on the Argon hammock on a Turtledog stand. They are simply amazing. Very easy and quick to adjust. The hooks are very secure with no slippage or issues.

    Thanks Dutch!!!

I may be asking the wring question here but I'm not a math guy. If I'm already using UCRs instead of whoopies than my weight savings will be the difference between my whoopie hooks vs the speed hooks correct? I don't see much savings except there right?

I'll have to order a pair anyway since maybe then I can do away with the UCR.

You won't save nearly as much (if any) on weight as you would vs whoopie slings. You may pick up a couple inches of adjustability due to not needing the adjustably bury portion of the UCR. The 'lock loop' on the speed hook appears to be more secure than the 'free' end of a UCR ever could be also.

The difference is 7/64 is an 8 strand braid, while 1/8 is a 12 strand braid. 1/8 is a tighter braid with more fibers = stronger, a bit heavier, but not much larger.

I wasn't sure it was amsteel that you were using in the video. I tend to replace my slings well before they look like that.. Although thanks to you, I never stick with one suspension system to long anyway.

Any eta on the 1/8 version? I'd rather use 1/8 amsteel when I constantly hear the words "daddy, can I get in the hammock too?"

Like I said, if you need another tester.. I'm more than happy to risk my butt for science.

The advantage over a UCR is not needing the overlapping amsteel for the bury, or the tag end of the amsteel hanging off the end. This isn't much at all. From a weight perspective I don't even know if its any lighter. It sure looks easier than my UCR lines.
