Stone Mt, NC is a nice park.
A few folks from the church I go to did a day hike there Sat. When they got to the top of Stone Mt, some guy had taken his bag pipes up there & was playing!!! They said it was a tremendous experience! Something they will probably never experience on Stone Mt again.
That is wild, and reminds me of a couple of years ago in WA's Olympic Mtns. We were camped in a narrow river gorge, and were completing a day hike up to "High Divide" to the North, more or less, of our camp. These turned out to be VERY vigorous hikes of 3-5000 feet elevation gain (though not all that many miles), followed by return down hill to camp.

So we are nearly back to camp, and we run into a few guys heading up the other side, to the south, towards the Blue Glacier. They were carrying some musical instruments. One big ol' boy had a guitar strapped to his back. He told me they were just heading up "to praise the Lord on the glacier"! Wish I had been there to hear it!

    Good report!

    Pictures...

Ok these are pretty crappy quality, but you can at least make out what they are. They don't do the real beauty of the park justice. There were alot more but were useless because of quality.
