Take a look at this NPR story that sheds some light about why sleeping in a hammock results in a better night's sleep.

Please forgive me if this is somehow a repeat. If it is, oh well.

So as it turns out I'm not weird for sleeping my my hammock. I'm conducting serious scientific sleep study research. My wife will be relieved that my time has been spent on such a noble cause. The results thus far: hammocks are a good thing. I plan to continue on my current research path despite these early findings. The Swiss scientists are eager to try the rocking bed on night-time sleepers, to see if it might help with insomnia and other common sleep disorders. But Shots readers may not want to wait for those results, and instead head directly to the back yard and their own time-tested research tool, the hammock.

I've read of test results like this before, but they don't answer my question. I sleep indoors in a hammock (Brazilian) every night. Aside for some motion when I first get into my hammock, there is nothing about it to make it swing or rock. I can understand that sleeping outdoors when there is a breeze blowing might cause a hammock to sway or rock, but not indoors. I just know that I get a much more comfortable nights sleep in a hammock than in a bed.
In the name of science, research and the betterment of humankind, my hammock and related gear should be tax deductible.
Wonder what the depreciation schedule is for my thread injector????

screw tax deductable - there should be grants (very obscured ones, so we dont loose all our hang spots.)
In fact, these people did not sleep in a hammock, but in a rocking bed.
I am happy to participate in a hammock sleep study
