Wow that looks like a fun weekend! Next time I would suggest having pilsburythrowboy strap an actual kitchen sink to that pack of his, many a sofa, and a tv and sat dish while were at it!

Great photos, looks like a awesome trip.

Question: Did you make that bucksaw? I recently bought a 21" blade and was going to make a portable bucksaw for those nights when I may need a bit more firewood.

All kinds of space and the boy forgot to bring stakes

taprackngo, you're gonna have to ask pilsbury about that saw.

Im sure he fashioned some stakes out of natural material, he is the super ultralight bushcrafter after all.

    Rack,

I did not make the saw, it's from a cottage maker named "Northwest Woodsman" that I believe no longer makes it. It's an absolute mainstay in my pack and irreplaceable. I looked at their site a couple days ago and they apparently have forwarded their bucksaw business to "Pole and Paddle" (LINK) who's another cottage maker based out of Maine. Their ordering process is by paper or phone looks like but a process well worth going through if it's anything near the quality that Northwest Woodsman put out. It's a heck of a price for their offering of a 21"-24" version for $42 or a 30" version for $50. The sleeve is $13 additional and perhaps shipping is additional as well but still, all priced out it's well under $100 and it's priceless when you need to process wood on site.

edit: Mine is the 21" version and is a perfect fit that slides into my USMC Main Pack's grenade launcher sleeve on either side (yes, that's really the compartment's intended purpose). It comes right up to the top of the main pack's opening which is right at the bottom of the lid compartment when attached. I highly recommend carrying an extra pair of washers & wing nuts as well as an extra 21" Bahco 51 saw blade (which they give you something like a binder thing that snaps secure over the spare blade). I've been fortunate enough not to have to need either but should the need arise and you're not a fan of Windlass (paracord twisted to tension by a stick) which I'm not, then you'll be glad you had it. I can perceive the value of a longer 24" version being great but the 30" is probably overkill and a nuisance considering the length of it protruding from any vertical pack sleeve and the impracticality of it with a single user. Unless you've got some extraordinarily long arms, I'd stay with the 21"-24" version. Hope this helps some.
