U.S Air Force ordered hammocks, quilts.

Those of you who follow Dream Hammocks and/or Underground Quilts should know this, but that leaves out a lot of hangers. The Air Force ordered 14 Thunderbirds from Dream Hammocks and 14 underquilts from UGQ's. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...eek-s-Hammocks

Supposedly someone in the Air Force saw somebody's set up, and that got the ball rolling. My guess is that these were slated for the PJ's ( Para Jumpers, Special Forces), but that's just a guess. I figure someone out there knows more about this, and I'd love to hear about it. Some of these guys probably joined this forum. It would be great to see a "Group Hang" of 14 identical hammocks and uq's in brown, and what tarps do they have? There's just so many questions about this!

How did the conversation go? "You want to order WHAT?"

How many videos of Shug did the Brass watch?

How far is this going to go? Is it going to be kept small in Special Forces of the branches (pun) of Military, or is there going to be a Hammock Brigade? Are they going to adopt our patch?

Chime in, but not at the expense of OpSec.

I forgot about the Claytor Jungle hammock, used by 7 military forces around the world, like the Italian Marines. So there are guys out there getting PAID to sleep in hammocks!

It's funny you mention that. I was a loadmaster on C-17 cargo aircraft in a past life. There were a bunch of us that used to carry hammocks around. It was a way to catch a nap on the plane without having the sleep on the cold floor.

Those are a obviously for a different purpose. I can't see the bug netting or over cover being much use inside s flying tin can.

for tarps i would assume (if anything like my old forces one) that it would be a dual purpose one with heavy webbing that can be converted for use as a stretcher.

yes the SHUG salute.! Woooooo buddy... err Sir!
