OK, I'll admit, I'm a bit confused here...I keep seeing stuff about Dutch pulling the hooks from his store, but when I go there the hooks are available for purchase (http://dutchwaregear.com/whoopie-hook.html). Did they already get put back onto the store, or is there some other completely different kind of hook that was pulled down that's different from these?

This is the down-side to having so many neat types of bling available, it's hard to keep up with them all...

    Wraith,
The Whoopie Hook is still available and has no issues. The Speed Hook has been pulled from the site, Dutch is working on a solution as we speak.
The difference is that the speed hook worked by running a single line through the bling and then hitching the line to the back of the hook.
    Hope this helps to clarify.
A hanging, though, was something different. I got to thinking. We hadn’t never been to nothing just to have a good time. A hanging was special and we was all getting to go.

Thanks, a kind member of this forum helped me out !

Your shipping only showed US and Canada. I know some vendors are reluctant to ship overseas so I wasn't surprised.

I was using my Hammock Anchors this weekend.
No signs of wear.. I doubled the amsteel as per heavy person instuctions (I am 180) just
to make sure nothing slipped regardless.
I do check on my gear each time I go out. Same as when I go climbing, webbing looks
bad, replace, rope looks bad replace, after so many lead falls, replace, amsteel looks rough
replace. It is pretty cheap (amsteel) to make new lines. ( I have speed hooks and do the same)

Well, we originally ordered 6 DIY Hammocks Anchors from BIAS, getting them a few days later. We have 220 grit sandpaper and a Dremel, so we wanted to try the DIY. Although these are very well made and consistent, we got cold feet and decided it's better to let the professional do the chamfering and deburring.

Shane was fine with our returning the DIYs and ordering the finished anchors, which we received a few days later. These also are very well made.

We swapped out our Whoopie Slings for continuous loops and made 2 pair of 7.5 foot Amsteel leaders with a locked Brummel on one end, the slid the hammock anchors onto the lines, ready to go.

I look forward to trying them and will post back.

I did a quick read of this, and have used the hammockfan anchors, which I had the versions where you do your own finishing. I went back to just using straps and a carabiner, mainly because of the wear on the amsteel, and the fiddle factor with the anchors. I have watched Giovanni's videos, and did the dremel tool/sandpaper to the hammock anchors, but I still, with my fat butt, cause the amsteel to have fraying. (The wraps tend to "set in" when you add the weight, that small movement causes the fraying?)

I did get the hammock fan tarp anchors, and I like those. Just my 2 cents, Giovanni, I am still hanging on to the anchors, and I am still new enough at doing my own DIY gear that I will get better I'm sure.

Just my opinion, too much fiddle factor with the hammock anchors on a hammock suspension.

    Take it easy,
