    ENO profly into porch mode

I have the ENO profly and was wondering if/how I could set it up in porch mode (with one of the ends almost flat to allow for better breeze and more room under it in nice weather). I haven't seen or been able to find posts/photos of anyone who has done this with this model...and I was wondering how I could go about doing it. could I just loop the guide-lines around the walking poles/supports and then down to the ground, or would I need to do some other kind of mod to accomplish this? Any videos or tutorials around to show me the specifics.

Here is a link to the tarp in case anyone wants to see how it looks.

Thanks in advance for any info!!

Doesn't look like that tarp would require anything special. Same as any other tarp. Check out this Shug video.

Just looping the guy line around the pole and running that to the ground is what I've done on my tarps. I saw someone this weekend with the same tarp as you having it staked out in porch mode.

By the way I don't have hiking poles so I just found some straight sticks that were the right height last time. Also, Shug says "tarp mode" a few times in that video where he means "porch mode," so don't let that confuse you.

I have seen this tarp set up in porch mode by using the "snow basket" end of he hiking pole up and placed thru the small triangulated opening near the line lock of the tarp corner and then handle dirt side down. I liked this as it was simple and it allowed the poles handle strap to be staked in place for stability if it was needed.

I have that tarp and use it with an ENO single nest. I have used it in some serious weather and never had any issues whatsoever when using it with that hammock. The only time I ever found it too short was when I was using it with a different hammock (Yukon) and that could have been user error as I was setting it up after drinking a few during an all day beach party. My attention to detail was probably not spot on

As for setting that fly up in porch mode, that is how I have done it (with sticks) almost every single time I have used it. No issues at all. My only issue with the tarp is the weight, but it was great for starting out. Now I will be able to pass it down to one of my kids and get a cuban fiber tarp when I am ready.

Same experience as the poster above. I've never thought it was too small for my single nest. But the weight is a bit of a factor and I am going to buy a lighter tarp and keep this one as a loaner for friends (if someone has to haul it let my buddies who get to use my equipment for a weekend).

That leads me to a question: does anyone find that they have to build a whole second system just to loan to friends who don't have their own backpacking gear? I mean it's a great excuse to buy more gear but I wish there was a way to rent lightweight gear for a week or so at a time (there are places that will rent you a 40 lb pack for $200). but at that point I would rather just make my own and loan/rent it to a buddy for a small fee).

So this eno tarp is part of that second pack!
