Hiking, hanging north Florida

Just getting started to hiking and hanging. Any suggestion where to do a two or three day hike in north Florida ? No swamps please just camped near west coast near cedar key noseeums ate me alive

Welcome to the elevated life.

The Florida Trail can take you many days if you desire. It goes from the panhandle to South Florida. The section thru Ocala National Forest is beautiful and we hike there quite a few times.

Check out trip reports for Hidden Pond area of Ocala. Also, it's not a hike and hang, but, the largest is in January during MLK weekend, The Fifth Annual Florida Hang or FHV. Hope to see you at one of our hikes and hangs.

In addition to all of Ocala National Forest east of you, check out Green Swamp south of you (just north of Lakeland). Despite it's name, there's really no swamp in there, but there are some gorgeous oak hammocks toward the east side of it.

Personally, I recommend the Florida Trail from the Ocala South section up through the Rice Creek shelter. It's awfully pretty, fairly remote, and easy to get to. I've not done the Ocala North section of the trail, but I've bookended it several times. If you've got any specific questions about it, feel free to PM me.
