In winter I believe we'll have to park at the lot on Rt302. I think it is a 4-5 mile hike in, on mostly flat, pulk friendly ground.

From talking with people who have been out there, it sounds like there are plenty of places to hang.
If you are interested in going or have more info on this location post it here.

Haha, no. No scope. At this point we're thinking we will miss Friday night but start hiking out at first light on Saturday morning. Hoping that may change.

This sounds like a great trip. Newbie winter hanger here. Be interesting to see some veteran hanger set ups. Where do I look for a more accurate parking lot location. I'm heading up from Sturbridge Mass area?

try googling where sawyer river road and rt 302 intersect, it has to be right near there somewhere.

The parking is almost directly across from 4th iron camp sites and it is right at the intersection of sawyer road and rt 302.

I'm in the same boat, I did a couple winter weekend trips last season, but there wasn't any real hiking involved in that. It looks like this requires cross-country skis or snowshoes, which I'd have to purchase as well. I'm definitely interested to see what other people are planning to bring for this trip.
