Got my first underquilt HG Incubator 20. Need help learning best ways to hang it

I'm certain there are threads describing "how to" hang a full length underquilt for various conditions somewhere in the Forum. Can I get pointers to find help? I'm going to use my UQ for the first time this weekend and want a base line to reference as I experience how it works. Thanks for any help.

BTW, HG folks have been very helpful in guiding me to the underquilt I'll use. Now I've got to learn how to integrate this new technology properly with my hammock equipment. I've got a WBB XLC and an UQ protector.

Tighten the UQ suspension more than you think it should be. It should lift the empty hammock. Do not automatically cinch down the UQ ends too much. Start with the ends fairly loose and tighten them just enough to seal the ends with a person laying in the hammock. Over cinching the ends actually causes pockets of cold air just in from the ends.

I agree with "gmcttr" about not over cinching the ends. I spent a long, cold and windy night last weekend thinking cinching it tighter would make it better. It didn't. I only got warmer once it loosened a little.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the advice. Will reference it.

I don't want to overcomplicate things but the more I learn about hammock camping the more I realize the value of experience tailoring the way things are rigged up. Why I ask for experienced feedback. Thanks much.

I agree. It actually looks completely wrong, until you get in it.

Thanks Shug. I've checked the thread you included. Much in that thread. Wouldn't have found it. Thanks.

I've bookmarked a number of your videos. Keep the hyperlinks on a Word doc. I will review the one you've attached tonight after work.

Low temperatures will be in the high 20's in Richmond this weekend. Good conditions to experiment in the backyard before venturing out into the woods.

Thanks hutzelbein. I found this thread last night. Good info. Thanks for sharing. I was very puzzled about primary and secondary suspensions but your pics are helping me understand. Thx.

I'm going to hang tonight with my pad because it will be to dark and cold to properly assess my new quilt when I get home after work. Will use tomorrow to tune it and hang Saturday night. Will report on what I learn. Temps this weekend in the mid 20's will be a good test.

    Appreciate all the help.
