MA > DAR state forest>11/28/14-11/30/14 - Group site

I have reserved DAR state forest group site from 11/28/14-11/30/14. If anyone would like to join me the company would be welcome. Please add yourself to the spreadsheet below if interested.

We should be able to drive in unless early snow falls. In that case it would be a hike in and I get to test out my new pulk. Wood should be available, I think for $5 a bundle. I will be contacting them closer to the date to let them know how much I want.

    • The group site is 1.5 miles from the plowed parking lot and after snowfall it is accessible by snowmobile, snowshoes, skis or by hiking only. No off-road vehicle use permitted
    • Campers parking in the plowed lot are advised not to leave valuables in their vehicles. Please leave a note in your vehicle letting staff know that you are camping and the date you plan to return to retrieve your vehicle

I am up for it. I will have to duck out for a little on Saturday for a thanksgiving dinner. I am good to go otherwise.

    Hi John

Sorry you can't make it. I figure I'm not going to get a huge group on this weekend with a lot of people having family stuff going on. Raiffnuke and I only had one other person show the last time we did DAR but it was still a great couple days of eating around the fire

Hey John, what a great idea! Can you tell us a little more about the group site, easy hike in? water? trash? bathrooms? Turkey leftovers?

not sure about the hike but there's a water pump and the bathrooms are fully stocked with TP, paper towels, spray cleaner. It's a composting toilet so goes like 5 feet. Don't drop your phone in there! And the gates are open all day and night.

I'm up for December also if I can get a day off. Just try to give me a heads up!

That about covers everything. I'm hoping there is no hike in and we drive down and you can park your vehicle and hang your hammock a few yards away. We have enough trees to hold 75+ over the whole group site. If we do get a bunch of snow and they close the road it's 1.5 miles on the road down to the group site. I have a pulk ready just in case but my plans are to drive in and relax around the fire for a couple days eating food
