    Joining the cult

Yesterday I bought my first hammock, so I believe I'll be joining the cult at hammockforums.net. Michele converted me when I read her trailjournal. I just hope there's no hazing.

I tried to hang said hammock yesterday and was unsuccessful because of 1) gale force winds and 2)my hammock's intense joy at being released from its stuff sack which made it wish it was a kite. But don't worry, today was less windy and I succeeded

Just wanted to say hello because it's rude to eavesdrop.

Welcome and post away. Always room for one more. Some of the best ideas come from someone who is new to the subject.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
The hanger formly known as "hammock engineer".

Miu, just watch out for the reprogrammers, they lurk here sometimes. Seriously though, welcome aboard to the hanging gang. You'll get tons of good advice, some interesting converstion threads and the ability to NEVER sleep on the ground again. Ever. Anyway, post away, we're glad to see you're here and can't wait to read what you have to say.

How to know if you are in gale force winds after you get in a hammock: When you reach out to get something the grass is to your Right instead of under you

Welcome to our "cult" I think you will find us a friendly bunch. There is No hazing involved, , , as far as you know

Be warned, a "Sub cult" here is the DIY group, but then that is more a disease than a cult. The motto there is I can stop anytime I want, after all I have done it thousands of times.

    Again, Welcome!

Beware the initiation, however. It makes the Navy SEALs Hell Week look like spending a few hours with a bunch of kids at daycare. Just kidding. Glad to have you! Miu, I've read your Trai Journals, you're quite the eloquent writer. Best of luck on your thru-hike. You'll be a LOT more comfortable off the ground.

The first step to recovery is to admit that you have a problem. Kidding, Doctari. You DIY guys rock, can't wait to start my first project and join your ranks. No inititaion for that one either is there?

Yeah there is an initiation for the DIY group. When you are dropped to the ground while testing you homemade hammock, you have been initiated.

lvleph, you know, I'm not sure whether or not to look forward to it or not. Seems a high price to pay for a sense of belonging.

How much did they charge you? Started recently as well. Some really great help while getting started. I'm finding out some of the things that I did wrong. What hammock did you buy?

Guess I don't really belong then...
