    Bare (Hennessy) Hammock Temerature

Just a question, what would be the coldest you would use a Hennessy Hammock or any hammock really?

I ask because my Explorer Deluxe is in the mail and I have no under quilt. I heard I don't want to fumble with a pad but I'm dieing to try this baby out.

Want to make sure I need a UQ before I make one.

    Thanks
    Kasuko

I wouldn't go much below 70 or so without some kind of underside insulation, but that's just me.

    Car camping? No worries.
Grab a blanket from the house and lay it in the hammock, then just lay on top of it. I like those fake fleece blankets (like the hotels use). Nice and soft against the skin and they don't compress much. They're cheap too, like $10.

Nest actually made an underquilt out of one and was using it at this past Trail Days. He said he had been into the 50s with it and stayed comfortable.

I was wondering if you could make a light underquilt just with a wool blanket or something similar.

I use a fleece lightweight sleeping bag I bought at Wally World and put my pad inside it and lay on that. It helps keep it from sliding around so much and stops the sweating.

That sounds like a plan. I like.

Another option: roll a sleeping bag out inside the hammock, and sleep on (not in) it. It makes quite the cozy little nest.

I'm using a fleece blankee in my indoor set-up. Even at 65-70* you'll feel a chilly back-side. Sleeping bags, blankets, extra clothes, etc. most anything can work, but you do need something.
