    New from Mississippi

Hey guys new from Mississippi here.

I've been hammock camping for a few years now but primarily in the warm weather. I have eno single nest and double nest with the eno dry fly.
I found the forum by searching through DIY underquilts. I plan to do some backpacking this winter in Great Smoky Mountain National Park. I've been just using a sleeping pad and 0degree sleeping bag for cooler weather and decided to search underquilts and quickly figured out I can't afford those right now which lead me to the DIY underquilts. I'm completely new to cold weather camping so any help would be greatly appreciated. I've also, now through the site, have seen a little about top quilts which is completely new to me. What set ups do people typically use in cold weather? like I said.. newbie here. Thank ya'll and I'm really enjoying browsing the site!

Welcome from North Mississippi. I'm using an underquilt and topquilt from Hammock Gear to keep me warm and toasty in the cold weather. I haven't encountered anything cold enough yet that this combo couldn't handle. Good luck with your DIY projects - you'll find plenty of info here on the forum to point you in the right direction!

Welcome from central MS. Glad to have yet one more MS hanger. You just missed the 1st annual group hang we had last weekend in Homochitto National Forest. Not to worry, there will be more. Good luck in your research and DIY crafting and welcome to the addiction.

Welcome from Little Rock, AR. I've been hanging with a DIY IX UQ. It's kept me warm so far above 40. I haven't tried below that, but I'm sure it would be plenty warm. I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of a HG 20 Incubator. I use the HG 20 Burrow for top.

Welcome for North MS! Check out KAQ Jarbidge. The new Apex can get you into the 20s easily from my experience if you layer correctly. Stay after it and Happy Hangin! http://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/s...der_Quilt.html

Thanks for the warm welcome! Definitely didn't expect so many people from Mississippi and the surrounding area! Looks like I've got a lot of reading to do.

Welcome, my brother, from central MS. Everything that I hang with has been DIYed. That's one of the things that I love about this place. Would have enjoyed meeting you last weekend. Maybe next time?
