    Question Washing a hammock?

This is just an idle question that I thought I would raise for the benefit of the group.

What's the best way to clean your hammock. I would assume that it would be done the same way as washing a backpack; luke warm water in a bath tub using a mild detergent, hand wash, and hang dry.

I don't think it would be a good idea to use a washing machine and dryer, but I do have some jackets and other gear made from ripstop that go into the washer ever so often with no ill effects.

The reason I ask is because I have used my HH many times and it can get pretty sweaty in the summer months. I also took a nap in my HH clone yesterday and it got pretty warm and I got a little sweaty also.

    Just don't dirty it

But woolite, a soak and a hang should work too. Just don't get too tempted to try and sleep in it while its drying.

I think that, ideally, hand washing would probably the best option, more likely than not. Machine washing woudln't be entirely out of the question if you used a front-loading washer. But like you said, I'd definitely use a mild detergent and fo' sho' run it on the gentle cycle.

I know this is completely off subject, but I need to ask it. HC, I decided I'm going to the ring buckle supports for my ENO, and will for any that I make as well. What kind of cordage did you use to attach your ring buckles to the hammock? I thought about using some of Ed's polypro webbing and sewing in the buckles, but it'd be light to use the cordage, I think. Thanks in advance!

I don't think it's the smoke he's worried about smelling.

Come on, Just make a new one.

I think as long as it is not coated soaking it in the bath tub is the best method. If it is coated I could see some deterrgents harming the coating. Maybe not once or twice, but over time I think it could remove a good part of the coating.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

    Hooch,

I used the Spectra that I cut off my HH when I went to using webbing to make my ring buckle supports. I don't know how well webbing would work with the ring buckles.
