I haven't but I don't trust my cat since he tends to do things like that. Even though he doesn't have front claws, he still has back ones and he's not beyond trying to jump in. I hang my hammock with UQ in a room where I can close him out.

I needed to leave camp for about half an hour so i chased him away before we left camp and when we returned he was standing on my suspention line 1 inch webbing strap,, when he saw me he made some kind of chuckling noise, almost like he was laughing at me and then he jumped up on my tarp, ran the length of it and went up the tree,, .
I don't pratice being cruel to animals but NOBODY messes with my gear!,, i threw some rocks at him and off he went never to return but that night i woke up with the strange feeling that he was around, and most likely only wanted to cuddle!
Invest in a sling shot and learn how to use it. Keeps the squirrels at bay, and can often provide a delicious dinner!

Are you talking about in the backyard? If so, I've never had any issues. In the house, I can hang stuff up and I've had pets get close. I ensure that they never touch it.

    Ditto if in the woods.

I knew a guy who took his girlfriend camping and she brought her cat. She let the cat go as soon as the tent was up and the first thing the cat did was "climb" the tent between the tent wall and the rainfly and stayed at the top. How did the cat get up the wall of the tent you might ask. Thank goodness for the "stop" in RipStop. Amazingly, the guy went on to marry the girlfriend. But I don't know what happened to the cat.

I have a Brittany (40 lb male bird dog). I love the dog, but you should have seen the gleam in his eye when I first set up my JRB down under quilt. He thought I bought him a new stuffed dog toy...that smelled like birds. Oh boy. I was laying in my hammock with it for the first time...he came tearing in the yard to play...smelled it and went for it. I knew better, so I was watching him. It was so close to being really exciting. He does know its mine, but I wouldn't trust him with it alone.

I have an outside cat that decided to use her claws on my underquilt while I was hanging in the yard. She didn't do much damage since I was still awake and was able to stop it immediately. Now I put her in the bathroom if I'm going to hang outside for the night.
