    ENO bugnet mod

I'm trying to get my pack weight down and was wondering if anyone had done a modification on the ENO bugnet to bring it down from its hefty 16oz weight.

Any way to cut it up and cut down some?? Or am I better off just selling it and getting a lighter one with the funds?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Until I had the funds to purchase another net/combo hammie, I just took off all the plastic hangers, tags and cut off the compression sack. Took off 3 oz as I recall. I hung it over my ridge line and had no issues. I couldn't find any other cut that wouldn't mess with its functionality though. I just stored it in the same sack/double sided sack as my hammie. Bulky and heavy. Does the job well though and works great for car camping. It is my loaner net and hammie set up now.

From what I've read, it seems like a Fronkey style bugnet would be a pretty easy DIY. I might try to make one as my first DIY project just to see if I can do it, and because its cheaper than buying a buginator

I just sprang for an integrated bugnet hammie with my underquilt and permethrin. Worked out in the hoard of mozzies we had this year.

    Remove the zipper pulls too.
I wondered about removing the extra zippers too....don't really need a two way zipper
    Also the logo tags.

That said I think you'll still be a good 3-4 oz heavier than a Buginator

Also by hanging it with Ridgeline inside instead of using the hangers will give you a line to hang organizer\flashlight from without having an extra line run.

Years ago I simply cut off about a foot from the bottom, removed the zipper and just let it hang. Easy in/out and no bugs. I cant remember how much weight it shaved off but it was a good amount.

I just sold mine and ordered Noseeum from ripstopbytheroll.
Thing is, I need a setup for my son too.
DIY starts to make a lot of sense when you need more than one rig

+1 on Fronkey. My first DIY. Or real DIY that is. Total price was about $15 and since I can't sew I used adhesive tape and it is holding up well.
