Figured we'd go with the 24th-25th, so that folks going to the FBH could attend and warm up if they wanted to.

That way no conflict with the MO hang either.

LBHiker- This is a good place to test your gear, as you can bring any extra backup gear you might want/need and have it easily reachable in the car. The weather on these Jan hangs can vary greatly...we've had hangs where the low was in the mid 40s, and hangs where the low as in the mid-teens. I don't start paying attention to forecasts until a couple of days out. Looking forward to seeing you out there!

Thanks Owl - by the way

In general what type of food does everybody bring to a hang? Skillets for bacon and eggs, cheese burgers for lunch, etc or is it more 'hiker' type of foods. Have never been to a hang so unsure on the food situation.

    Thanks

Well, now that's a question with a funny answer.

First hang we had out at Woodridge, I'd let everyone know that we were car camping. Most of us showed up with standard backpacking fare. One forum member showed up with a wheelbarrow for his gear and firewood. That first morning, while we were all warming up oatmeal...he pulls out a small skillet, and proceeds to fire up some sausage...and use the grease and frying pan from that to cook his eggs, while his bread toasted next to it on the fire.

We were reminded...sometimes you just gotta think. LOL!

Bring whatever you like. We'll likely be setup at the trailhead, literally feet from the cars. Cooler chests, frying pans, cast iron skillets...or your brand-new campstove you got for Christmas that you're dying to try out. This is a good trip to test out new gear and keep whatever backup in the car that you'd like to have. Same thing applies to food. For the most part, everyone tends to feed themselves, but occasionally we'll bring out a dessert or something to share with others as well. Whatever suits you is just fine.

I just posted on the frozen butt hang thread I was opting out. Getting achy, mild fever, and blisters on the back of my throat. If this runs its course in a reasonable time I should still be good to go on this one. After all, I have to justify all of this cold weather gear somehow!

I spoke to Hoot earlier tonight. Barring work or other issues he is planning on being there. Thanks to me he has to justify buying all this cold weather gear somehow too.

Anybody think we will have enough snow to use the pulk sleds?
