Has anyone tried these with their 3/4 UQ instead of sit pad?

Been making down socks for the past 4 years. Personally use a pair almost year round. No they will not replace a pad. Under your heels they compress to no insulation value. With them though you can get away with a much lighter pad and the rest of your feet stay much warmer with down socks than without.

Yes. Ditto what pgibson noted. Importantly, once your feet get cold they are harder to warm up with the 3/4 than a longer quilt. Basically your feet are on their own to get the down booties heated back up. I add wool pants to help keep feet warm (kinda like wristies for feet). Otherwise I have to rub my feet each time I return to the hammock or warm some socks up under my arm pits to get the heat built back up.

I agree with the opinions above. Most important for me is remembering not to sleep in the socks I've worn during the day. I save a pair of roomy dry socks to sleep in, use a hot water bottle to warm the footbox if the temp is below 10° F., and always have a ccf pad under my heels.
Somebody at Mt. Rogers once had some of Paul's down socks that were extra high - custom items, I think. ()

Worth checking out Snugpak's Snugfeet too. They have synthetic insulation but look pretty decent. I plan to grab a pair for this season.

I have some booties but never take them. With the extra down and volume in my pack, I'd rather just go with a full UQ. I'll be trying my first 3/4 UQ soon, so hopefully I can make it work with minimal extras (just a small Reflectix pad)
Good to hear you will be trying a 3/4 i just got mine and i must say i'm a bit nervous but then again i am new to this.
I cant say if the booties would work for your purposes but I do have a pair of those exact booties and they are amazingly warm and comfy. I had a pair of winter boots rated to -160 and got rid of them as soon as I got these. No good for hiking or anything but around camp they are incredible.
