I was in a similar situation and was able to negotiate a "no-fault" divorce through a court approved mediator. No lawyers, we split the cost of the mediator. It was civil and fair. Good luck. Mediation can be an effective alternative. Divorce hearing took exactly 45 seconds, ending 23 years of marriage. I came home to an empty house. I felt horrid.

That was 13 years ago and I have been HAPPILY married for the last 11 years. Go out for a long paddle turk, it might give you some boost of the spirit. I spent lots of time on the river after my divorce.

Wish I had the $ to help you out. We are working to be 100% debt free and targeting all resources toward that. Best to you.

Turk you are breaking my heart. I don't know anything about your relationship or lack there of, but I have a relationship with my gear as I believe you do. I don't think I can read any more.

I wasn't sure what Rug was placing dibs on, so I PM'ed Turk this morning that whatever JRB quilt was left, I was interested in. That may be the Old Rag Mountain, based on Rug's request for the JRB UQ (which I assume is the Nest) and the time he requested. I would prefer the Nest, but I would also take the ORM and modify to be a UQ, if needed. I just need another UQ for the wife, and a decent bag. The wallcreeper and the ORM would work great in combo, as she gets real cold and I could easily modify the ORM to work as a UQ for her BlackBird. But I don't know where I am in the request list. The Wallcreeper is my first priority, but they sure would be sweet together for her uses. I know I PM'ed at 23:31 last night, which was about 3 hours behind Rug for the Nest. But not everyone openly posts when they PM so you don't know what else went on in PM's. I usually don't post openly because I just want to get the PM in first, and get the item. I'll post my interest openly after I PM, if at all.

Turk, I feel for you. I was days away from your current situation a very short time ago, but mine was planned and all laid out like Hors d'oeuvres at a company Christmas party. The fact that I never got the chance to open the doors to the party was because Life stepped in, as it has a nasty or convenient habit of doing. Life throws you curveballs all the time, sometime you hit it out of the park and sometimes you get beaned in the head. Sometimes you get called out on strikes. But you have to stand in there at the plate and take your cuts. You will come out of this stronger, healthier and happier - eventually. Fight on, but fight smart. As hard as it is, try to take your emotion and betrayal out of it, and deal with it as logically as possible. Search local men's groups for an attorney - you may find someone willing to help at reduced costs through them. It sounds like you have the high ground in the middle of this swamp, but I admit I don't know the details at all. It will be nasty, it will be tough, and it sounds like it was thrown at you when you weren't looking, so you didn't have time to duck or to tee it up. If you need anything, let me know.
