    Red face Stevie

    Hey Stevie,

So are you a happy man? Tell your friends in the UK.
As for the Ridgerest, they are bulky but that can be managed if you are saying you don't have enough space in your backpack. The Restrest can be folded or rolled up pretty tight and attached to the pack by using
adjustable web straps. If you have a pack with a taco compression, the pad will fold up and fit nicely under the compression system. This photo shows how I pack my Ridgerest in my M.O.L.L.E gear.IMG_1280.jpg

The only reason I swear by my Ridgerest is because of the way it wraps around my body and feet while in the hammock. A smaller CCF pad will create more space between the pad and the side pockets. If you have stuffed your clothing and outerwear into those pockets for insulation, that space will allow more cold air to come through.

Also, the way the Rigderest is designed, with all the heat trapping ridges, it is very warm. I've been able to us just an overquilt in temps into the lower 20's. Once it drops into the teens or single digit temps, I use my down bag and temps in the hammock will hover in the 50's.

Hi Tony, I hear what you are saying but we get too much rain here for me to be attaching things to the outside of the bag. Previously when I've attached things to the bag I forget they are there and get caught in trees etc when walking so don't get on too well with it.
My packs all about space saving so if anyone uses a or can recommend a similar may that compeesses well I'd appreciate your input. Might be that my two current sleep mats might suffice

Check out the Klymit insulated Static V. I used it in my hammock until I switched to the Ridgerest. I really like it but the Ridgerest just proved to be warmer in the hammock when it got in the single digits here.

Did you finally figure out how to get the Ridgerest to fit? When you said it wasn't fitting, I was puzzled. The pocket is designed around the large pad. No reason it shouldn't work.

Stevie, Keep in mind that the foam pad would not absorb water. If it gets wet from being on the outside of the pack, just shake the water off. At the most, you may need to wipe it off with a pack towel. The pad can also fit into a water proof stuff sack if you think it will be getting wet.

Thanks Tony, reckon I'll need to bite the bullet on this one or find a similar mat with same dimensions - mats I currently use aren't proving to be particularly F.O.B friendly

    Question,

Does anyone 'statke out' their F.O.B?
Looking at photos on facebook it appears that this can be done using the space where the seams meet at the front and back.

    Thanks,

Looks similar to my hammockbliss sky bed bug free. Would be interesting to do a comparison.

Tony, the large didn't want to fit very well, I'm not sure why unless it's because of mine being custom. But, the regular size Ridgerest fits great, works great and also fits in my ruckpack perfect so it ended up being a blessing in disguise.
Stevie, I had already planned on trying to set mine up on the ground in Bivi mode just for sh!ts and giggles once it gets warm again.

Fuzzy. surely that would be like driving a plane instead of flying

I realised it's on your photos on fb that I've seen the hammock staked out.
    Your set-up looks great mate.
