Here's a couple pics. I could have compressed the tarp a bit more, maybe knocking another inch or two off the length. BTW, mine weighs 1 lb. 15 oz. on my postage scale.

There are 2 Guidegear tarps, one that is configured as a tarp and the other comes with poles.

I am assuming you are referring to this one
    12 x 12 Tarp
Constructed of tough 190T nylon with a 1,000 mm polyurethane water coating. Tarp has factory-taped seams add protection. 17 tie-out points for accomodating all types of shelters. Guy lines included.

Then there is this that is 600 denier with a center tie out and 2 poles
    12 x 12 with poles

    Protection plus:

    •waterproof 600-denier polyester / taffeta
•Multiple web loops for stringing guy ropes
    •Reinforced corner grommets
•2 sturdy steel poles for shelter support
•Includes stuff sack for easy storage and transport. 12 x 12'.

I sure wish they told us the weight..The 2nd one comes with the web loops for how we would use it.

The weight is 2lbs. and the first one comes with web loops too. I bought the first one a few weeks ago and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm in the process of moding it for use as a winter tarp. I wish that I'd bought 2 because it would make an excellent kitchen tarp as is off of the shelf.

notice how the 2nd one already has the centerline web loop, the first one oesn't seem to have this, which should make it a ready to use tarp for spanning across the ridgeline.

I am going to order one and see how it looks. My concern is the difference in materials from the first one.

Ok so I got the second tarp and I am so far pretty pleased with it for $36

    12 x 12 with Poles

It weighs 1.8 lbs by itself and compacts down like the other tarp above. The Carry bag is alot bigger though becasue of the poles which I will not be using.

I plan on using my snakeskins for the tarp and set aside the storage bag and the poles.

It says it is white, but it is actually a very light olive color. Overall, I think it is going to work out fine, I'll be setting it up in the morning to see how she works and how it will hold up.

Post here and let me know how it goes. I bought the other one and I'm in the process of modding it (acually I'm in the process of learning how to use the thread injector ,so I can mod it). But it would make a good kitchen tarp, as is, for paddle camping. If the one you bough, with poles, can make a good winter tarp, as is, I would really consider buying one for my winter set up. It would save me some sewing and I could see times when I would use both tarps anyways, so it won't hurt to have 2.
