new to hammocks, have a few questions

thanks to everybody who has offered advice. after doing a lot of reading, on this forum and also the ADVrider "gear" sub-forum, as well as reading "the ultimate hang", i have ordered the following:

warbonnet blackbird XLC with removeable winter top-cover
warbonnet superfly tarp
enlightened equipment revelation 20-degree top quilt
enlightened equipment revolt 20-degree underquilt

now to set it all up in the backyard as soon as things start arriving. the UQ will take a couple weeks so i'll use a pad in the meantime. everything else should be here within a week.

the starter kit and the accoutrements are way cheaper & can ALL become DIY stuff

Welcome from the West Coast. My buddy does that. He brings along a small tent for areas where there are no trees and then he uses an inflatable Exped mat for the tent or between the layers on a double layer hammock.
