Shopping for first UQ. Narrowed down the temp rating and length, but how the heck do you go about deciding who to buy from? I've been reading thread after thread after thread. Many brands recommended.

short answer is....you can't go wrong with any of the cottage vendors on here, no matter who you choose

What are your priorities? Weight? Cost? Manufacturing time? Customer service?
Do you want synthetic or down? Are you planning on using it on a bridge hammock? Do you want a super fancy design (Under Ground Quilts are known for this).
I think for weight you should look at hammock gear, enlightened equipment, or zpacks. I can't give advice for the other qualities.

Isn't it great we have so many good choices. I had to make spreadsheets to help pick my gear. Even then it came down to a coin flip or who had it in stock if I was in a hurry.
If you're simply trying to decide without having to make a choice, find out who has 0* full length in stock and ready to ship. Then roll dice or use a random number generator to choose. All of the cottage vendors here have quality products, so if you're not looking for a specific feature aside from length and temp rating, there you go.
Hope it helps!

I had the same criteria and same decision to make. I ended up narrowing it down to HG and UGQ, for price vs quality, I thought they seemed to be the top contenders, (but the other vendors are great, and YMMV). I simply needed to keep focusing my search. In the end, I went with the HG 0 incubator with an ounce of overstuff. A little cheaper, (though 20 bucks isn't going to be the be all end all), a little lighter do to fabric choices, width choices, and fill choices. Full disclosure: HG is 78 inches long and 44 wide, UGQ is 77 long and 47 wide. This makes UGQ a bit wider, which may be a bit more comfy, but I thought more weight to carry. Also, UGQ puts 2 oz more down in their quilt, so that accounts for a bit of the weight and cost difference... But again, with the 3 inches wider and one inch shorter, I couldn't figure how much of that extra down was going to the extra width to say how much down they had square inch for square inch.
In the end, we just went with a gut decision, liked the fabric weight choice and design of the incubator, and pulled the trigger. We ordered through the black friday sale and it took about a week to get to our door. I love the quilt and am sure I made the right decision..... However, I am almost POSITIVE, had I chosen UGQ, I would have been just as right.

Good info thanks! I am leaning towards the HG 0. Bulk is a bit of a concern, not so much weight, so the 44" width is attractive.
