    Kurt's in

I've put this one on my calendar. I'll be there unless my schedule gets scrambled, i.e. my house in MN sells and the moving van shows up that weekend.

It'll be tough to top the Northern Hang I went to this spring with Finn and Shug, but let's try! The location looks fabulous.

Since moving to AZ 2 months ago I've done all my hanging on Mt Lemmon, as its the only place nearby with known trees and cooler weather.

Looking forward to meeting the AZ hanging crowd!

    you live in Tucson now?
then you have to stay at manning camp (featured in my youtube video) in the rincon mountains. also of note that S. AZ is full of these sky islands, Santa Ritas, Chiricahuas, Huachucas, Pinalenos, Galiuros, and also even in the lower sonoran deserts where even seasonal streams flow there are going to be suitable hanging trees. make sure you get down into Aravaipa canyon this fall, one of the premier hikes in the country.

Yep, moved down to Tucson July 5.

Pls send me a link to your Youtube video, I'd like to see it.

Discovered the Santa Ritas this weekend, stayed in Madera Canyon. Looks like fabulous hanging, and probably quicker drive than Mt Lemmon.

    Thanks for all the recommendations!

Count me in. I will keep checking back for details. By the way, I got to use my TQ/UQ combo in North Carolina this weekend. Far exceeded my expectations. Thanks te-wa

It was in the 50's at night and kept kicking my top quilt off me because I was warm enough. Living here in AZ, I think it was disgustingly humid. Borderline monkey butt.

Well, the mid Nov timeframe for our upcoming AZ hang up on the Mogollon Rim will be a whole new ball game. I say bring it! I'm ready for some cold weather hanging.

the date is approaching my friends!
as we get closer i'll set up carpools as needed, for those in the valley its best to meet at my place in fountain hills which is on the way to the hike and a safe place to park.
for those coming from out of state, if you need an extra night you're welcome to stay here (i have room) on Friday so you can rest up before we leave Saturday morning. Id estimate a 2 hour drive from my place to the trailhead.

temps are in the mid 70's and low thirties with no freezing nights just yet, but they are surely coming. the trailhead is at 6,800' and gets a fair amount of snowfall in winter. chance of snow is slim, but you can certainly expect (and prepare) for temps in the twenties overnight.
just a reminder: there are brown and rainbow trout in this small creek. i have seen browns topping the 3lb mark during spawn. unfortunately, they would not hit my flies.

    campfires are permitted
no fees, this is national forest land
restrooms and car camping at trailhead
we are going to backpack a short 1-2 mile distance on very easy terrain.. this means you can bring those luxuries!

so far the interest for this hike includes:
    drewboy
    hike4WD
    roadtorque
    longbow
    taozenqi
    fishcranium
    kwpapke
    pisanodc
    jnanson
    te-wa

i could pro'lly scrounge up a few more hangers that arent active on this forum (**** them!) and make this one heck of a turn-out.
all good folk, with a great hobby in common.
    will we see YOU there?

My brother lives in Sierra Vista... wonder what my wife would say if I suggested we go visit this fall?
