Looking at the pictures the JRB seems to come down to around the knees to upper thighs. Unfortunately that is too low for me to be able to wear. There is no explaining why, that's just how it is.

The KAQ is a good piece of gear. I have yet to use one I hope to at some point, but from what I hear 30 deg is doable. It depends if you are someone who sleeps really warm and gets cold really easily. If you are not afriad of a couple extra oz, get a double layered one. That would be very warm.

I'm gonna talk to Black Bishop about it. Maybe see if he can add more insulation to it if it wouldn't be too much trouble. Plus it's camo like my tarp.

Testing has shown the Potomac to work well for the average sleeper to about 30*, as you mentioned. Adding a third layer of insulation is no problem if you want to go that route. PM me for more details.

Trust me, do yourself a favor and wait for the Speer UQ if you can. He should have them out around Trail Days. I had the distinct honor of being allowed to try out one of those babies at the SEHHA Hangout a couple weekends ago in Hot Springs. The design is WONDERFUL, I had neither hot spots nor cold spots both nights I slept with it. Youngblood and Ed have designed a KILLER product that is probably going to sell very well, but, most importantly, keep a lot of hammockers warm and comfy. I'm pretty sure that it's going to make the nice folks at JRB and KAQ (Who I'm told make excellent products, not to take anything away from them) sit up and take notice. It's a great product and, in my own opinion, would be well worth the wait.

Please give more details as to how it differs from current underquilts. Though I'm saving to go to Canada, maybe I shouldn't let myself be tempted....
It is coming from seeing them at SEHHA. Speer is releasing them officially at Trail Days. There are some pictures floating around. It differs in that it is hassle free. It is not the typical insulation sandwiched between two pieces of material.
