Question No Sniveller vs. Shenandoah, Reg Vs. Long

I plan on replacing my Mountain Hardwear Phantom 45 with a top quilt this year. Last year I got a Nest (actually got 2, one for the misses) and absolutely love it! So I no I want to stick with JRB.

I have two things to decide.....

    1. No Sniveller vs. Shenandoah. . . . There is a 5 to 6 oz difference in favor of the Shenandoah but the No Sniveller is more multi use friendly (I could leave my Moonstone Lucid Jacket at home). . . . . . But if I am mostly going to use it in temps above 45. . . . . . . . . .. . . . is the No Sniveller over kill........

    2. Do I go with a long? I am 6'2" so if I go by the site I should but does two inches of height warrant the extra 6" inches of quilt length and added weight?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    -Don

Not to interrupt your thought processes too much, but the JRB Universal Stealth quilt will get you down to approx. 40F, and is also very "configurable". I love mine.

Just sayin'... now back to your regularly scheduled discussion...

    IMHO, No Sniveller.

The NS is a great quilt but maybe too much for temperatures above 45 degrees. The afore-mentioned stealth would be a great alternative for that temperature range.

Received my Stealth last week just in time to try it out on the Pinhoti last weekend. I love it. For temps 45 and above I love the light weight and compressability. The Shenandoah is basiclly the same quilt but without the head hole and it is cheaper.

I agree with the others about the Stealth being a good choice for the temp range your looking for. It'd give you more options.
I have the Four Season set and the No Sniveller is a little too much for warmer temps.
As to getting a long. I got a long Old Rag which I added some loops to so I could turn it and the No Sniveller into a sleeping bag in case I need to go to ground on extended trips (bike tourer) If I use the long in the hammock on x cold nights I'm swimming in quilt. But I'm 5'10" and a side sleeper. Oh! I take that back, I'm over 50 so I'm probably just 5'9" now
If you must choose between two evils, opt for the one you've never tried before

    Buy the Long.

I'm 6' 1" & it gives me that little extra stretch room & flexibility. Unless you sleep in the same exact position all night, you'll be glad you got the long.

Could someone do me a favor, and provide some detailed pictures of the head hole and the foot box. I want to make my own, and this would help a lot.

    Exclamation Stealth

Wow how did I miss the Stealth as an option!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the input. I will think about it for a few days but I think I will end up going with a Stealth long.
