For most of the usable year, yes. Only 1 in 8 of the people I knew who put in for it, got a permit this year. You can always do a daily walk-in permit--get there early. Great photos! Now to find someone who's hammocked through the Bailey Range Traverse...Originally Posted by Boomer

It sounds early to be thinking about Summer backpacking, but the pre-season lottery is coming up: February 15. And Helens permits are available February 1.
