    Silnylon at Wallyweird ??

I've read that some of you guys have found silnylon at their local Walmart but I never would think the Walmarts around here would have it but today I found what is surely rip-stop nylon. It's much slicker than the regular rip-stop and where the other soaks up water this beads up water. Would this be silnylon? There was no product desciption at all.

Could be, although it's more likely to be DWR. Still good for tarps and stuff sacks.

Put your mouth on it and suck in. If air barely comes thru, it's DWR. If you can't get any air thru the fabric, it's sil.

I was at a factory 2nds and roll joint sale a while back, sucking on a lot of pieces of fabric and a stranger asked me why I sniff the fabric. I felt a little dirty and really think I lost him on the reason. It is a little embarrassing.

Once you get used to identifying sil, you won't have to suck on it. Although in my case, since it's 2nds, I still do to make sure the reason for rejecting it wasn't a lack of coating.
