    Another Climashield UQ

I made this to stack with my 0* down UQ as the temps are now into the negatives. I used a 5.0 and a 2.5 layer for 7.5 oz total. This would normally carry me to 20* easily so stacking it over my down uq let me sleep at -15 last night. I used it in conjunction with SirMarco's Freezer Flaps.

I used 1.1oz dwr for the inner/outer and used the inside/outside method to construct it and final dimensions are 60L x 45W - took about 3 hours to make.

Total weight with suspension/stuff sack is 33.2 oz and compresses down small enough - about soccer ball size.

Everyone - please have a safe New Year!

Looks great! I am about to construct a few more UQ's and I think I am leaning towards synthetic.

Thanks DCOFFMAN83! I love synthetics as I like to get out in rain/snow/storms/etc. I've had down uq's get soaked and they're pretty much useless then - I've even soaked the treated down (hydrophobic). I love down for it's warmth and packability, but if it's a chance of getting wet, I bring the synthetics.

A big plus is that Climashield is very cheap compared to 850/900 down and I can make a Climashield uq 2x faster than a down uq - they're dirt simple to make.

Have you made a TQ with climashield? If you have, can you post up a pic?

A few dozen of them - the only difference between a TQ and an UQ is the TQ is longer and a little wider and no suspension.

These just haven't had the footbox sewn yet.

    Another Climashield UQ

What inner and outer shell material would you use on one of these?

Looks great Vince! I am about to build a UQ to pair with my down or stand-alone. I'm going synthetic w/ this one.

    V_allen,

Did you do your suspension like HG UQ's? This looks awesome!!

I'm looking to build a TQ with the same type materials.

But this looks ideal for a new UQ for my other family members
