Greeting all. ive been cruising these forums for a few weeks now just trying to gain some insight and knowledge on the options and changes that come with hammock camping. I never knew could be so involved or different from life on the ground.
i had never even heard of such a thing as hammock camping until i was introduced to it once during a Boy Scout campout. at the time it seemed likie a novelty that looked too weird to work but after thinking about it some, talking to hammock users, and reading on it here, i decided it would be worth giving it a go.
For Christmas I got a Hennessy Hammock (expeditiona asym deluxe) and I'm looking forward to it getting out to put it to use for my first hang. My sons BSA troop has their Klondike camp in a few weeks and i'm considering bringing it along to give it a shot on this outing. of course i need to look at insulation systems and since we dont camp regularly in winter (and id probably not camp in winter if not for him and the scouts) i'm leaning towards the HH super shelter in conjunction with my thermarest pad, space blanket, 0* bag, and such. I just think its more versatile and flexible for the type of camping that I'll be doing. (of course ill pack my tent along...just in case i run into a problem).
Looking forward to talking to everyone here and bending your ears for advice as I transition from the ground to the trees!
