    First night out with daughter

Finally got out to do the first night out with my 10yo daughter...

We have tried to get out many times now but always been stopped for different reasons, bad weather, illness and such..

But finally we got out, not a long trip not even a hike, we took our bikes and rode them 5km away from our home. We found a perfect spot making it possible to hang the hammocks side by side under one tarp.

She slept in her DD Travel Hammock and I slept in my DD Camping Hammock. I had some problems fixing the underquilt to the hammock since it doesn't come with instructions like "do like this dumbass" I would really need one... But when I got one set it was much easier to do it on the second hammock.

So the night then? It was really nice sleeping in the hammock, this was actually my first time to. The quilts was doing a good job keeping us warm at night. At times the sleeping bag felt unnecessary and I guess I could have used it as a blanket instead of crawling in to it. It's a good thing I'm a light sleeper when not having any earplugs, three times during the night I had to get out of my hammock and grab Emilia's hammock and shake it since she rolls in it like she does in bed and was a couple of times about to sleep face down in the mosi-net.

My experience was that I didnt get super comfy in my hammock, I think the problem was that I didnt stretch it like the DD are supposed to be.

When we packed our things this morning I packed the hammock with the quilt still attached, hopefully this will make the setup a bit easier...

Photos will come soon, haven't moved them from the camera yet.

All in all it was a great experience and I will do this soon again...

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing the pics.
My first camping trip with my daughter holds special memories for us. We however were in a tent, I'm hoping to get her out in a hammock sometime soon, a friend offered to loan her his extra Hennessy Scout for a weekend sometime.

Getting out with your daughter. What a great bonding time. I hope she wants to do it more often.

you don't know what you started, i also have a 10 yr old daughter who now hates to go camping unless she gets to hang her eno double. she is even talking she want a mt. washington uq for christmas!!!!! i do love the bond time. there is no better way to spend time with the kids than hang'in and camping.
i do not remember the question, however i believe beer is the answer

@ KerMegan > Did you get out this weekend? Let me know how the tips worked out for you, any most importantly, what ideas did you get?

@ NCPatrick > It was really great, even my smallest one is bugging me to take her out, but she's only 3 years old so she will have to wait.

@ Knotty > She certainly wants to go out again.

@ kayaknut01 > I know what I started, I started the little nagging machine in that female, now she sounds like her mother but with a different tune, hers sounds more like take me out, take me out, take me out...

Wifey sounds like, TAKE OUT THE TRASH, DO THE DISHES, VACUUM THE FLOOR, GIVE ME MONEY..!!!

Guess the nagging machine had to be started at some point in her life, and to be honest, the kids tune is more pleasant

I am so happy me wife doesn't visit this site

ps. me taking up my old hiking interest was just to have this time with the kids and letting them get in on the wonderful nature life thats availible for them without them knowing it.
