    Nicely done. I lived in Haywood County for 10 years a couple lifetimes ago. Your trip reminds me of those times. Those mountains hold a lot of amazing settings. Thanks for sharing.

    Fastest, the Monday after we got back I called the forest service, gave them the info and even sent the pics to help them identify the damage and where it was. They were happy to get it saying it was new damage and they would get someone up to do a survey and schedule the repair. It's a pretty popular spot and that was back in the first week of January. I have a feeling it is already repaired. They actually were very easy to work with at the NFS and most of them are avid hikers among other things who also use those shelters. A 12 person shelter that only works with 5 is an issue that they wanted resolved.
