Utahn in Massachusetts, just starting hammocks

    Hi fellow hangers,

I've lived most my life in Utah and am now in Massachusetts, where a friend introduced me to hammocks. They made me go from hating camping (because of pain sleeping on the ground) to loving camping. For 3 years, I'd borrow my friend's Warbonnet Blackbird on the few trips I went on, and I really liked it.

Now I'm starting to experiment with buying and setting up my own hammock systems. I must admit a lot of the jargon on here is confusing, but I'm slowly learning. I'll be posting a couple of my questions within appropriate forums so as to not gum up this one with more than introductions.

Welcome to HF from Massachusetts. Check out NEHHA. We have a winter group hang coming up this weekend. Come on out and check out all of the gear and meet fellow local hangers.

I also echo what Raiff said. If you can pull off a weekend trip or just a day trip come to Chesterfield Ma. At the Scout camp and you will be able to see a whole lot of gear you would normally only see online.

We will be out all weekend if you get a chance. If not, there are plenty of hangs all throughout the year.

Welcome from Cleveland. I lived in western Mass for a few years. Check out Mt. Greylock on the AT if you are looking for a good place to hang and build up those leg muscles! It's on the other side of the state, buts it's well worth the beautiful drive on Rt 2.
