I've noticed a couple of people recommending Minicel ccf.
Mentioning that it is a high qualitiy ccf. What makes this foam better?

the smaller the cells, the more efficient/better warmth to weight ratio it will have. that's why the larger cells of the blue wm pad make it less efficient. the more efficient your ccf, the thinner piece you can get by with, and since ccf is bulky to begin with, the thinner the better.
Would you consider it better than Volara or are they about equal for same thickness? I can get Volara by the foot at 60" width but minicell only comes in sheets (72' x 48" - largest I could find). Would like to make a thin pad for an external sleeve for my HULBA. Would prefer 85" x 28" to fill out the sleeve and give me overlap on shoulders and feet.

the volera sold by foambymail.com is way inferior to their minicell, can't say for other volera from other sources. i've found the landau foam from a-1 foam and fabrics to be pretty close in quality to the minicell, probably not quite as good, but close and alot cheaper, also sold on the roll (60" i believe)
thanks WBG

Looking at their descriptions, it says Volera is an excellent insulator while minicel is good. Seems contradictory.
Volara Closed Cell Foam
Details
* Good mechanical properties
* Good for sound deadening
* Low water absorption and vapor transmission
* Excellent thermal insulation
* Excellent chemical resistance
Minicel Foam
Details
* Resiliency
* Excellent buoyancy
* Good thermal insulator
* Excellent strength and shock absorption
* Low water absorption
I just bought Volera for my WBBB...
well, i've seen them both in person, you got some fairly low-quality foam, those specs probably came from different foam manufactuers, and aren't an actual comparison between the 2. you would have been much better off with their minicell or the landau form a1 foam and fabrics. sure the volera will work, but it won't go as cold as the other 2 options would, not the volera from foambymail anyway.
