    New HH Deluxe Asym Zip

    Hey everyone,
Figured I would take some time to post my new rig on here. I'm new to hammock camping and was hesitant since I'm a big guy. I managed to fit well into it even though I felt a little uneasy at first hahaha #bigguyproblems. Set it up this morning in the pouring rain. Here a few pics from this morning. Had a blast setting it up and look forward to learning new things!

Nice set up, my first commercial hammock was a HH Safari Deluxe. I still have it and I'd served me well for several years.
I have slept in a hammock on every continent from -20 to +128, under direct and indirect fire, from frost to fungus except Antarticia.... But give me time... Thank you Uncle Sugar!

So I'm probably about to commit an ultimate sin in this sub section, hahaha.

So I've received my Hennessy and I like it, but after doing more research, it would appear the Blackbird XLC will hold 400 Ibs. Obviously I'm no where near that, but I didn't know from the opinions of those on here who have used a Hennessy if I will really feel anymore "comfortable" getting in one. As far as features, I don't think I'm there yet to decide that one suspension system is better then another... I did like the shelf idea...

Any suggestions? I don't even know what the return policy is for Hennessy... thanks for all of the help guys!

I mean there are tons of great hammocks out there but I wouldn't just give up on the hennesy unless you were uncomfortable in it. It's nice ride man
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

Congrats...my first was an explorer deluxe zip too...was comfortable but just a little short. Have moved on to an 11" Dream Hammock, but you have a fine hammock there, sir.

Newton, I noticed you have a SuperShelter. I just got my Hennessey explore deluxe in this weekend. I set it up in the garage and I still got cold. How do you like your undercover compared to a quilt? I have to purchase one or the other and cant decide. Thanks

Hey, sorry I just realized you didn't have anything yet. I would say the supershelter vs underquilt is an interesting topic and I think there is an argument for both but one great thing is if you do use the supershelter, then you can always add other insulation to the inside of the undercover. There are alot of great posts on here that show them head to head with discussion but it would be easiest if you could find someone in your area that could let you check out their quilt or supershelter.

Thanks for the advice.I am going to purchase the supershelter anyway. Like you say, I can always add more insulation. I'm doing a section hike on the A/T in late may. Avg. low temps usually 50's so I think I should be ok.
