My reason for liking the Old Orchard site is more room and more hanging sites. I would actually prefer Wise IF the group gets no larger, I like the river being there, the ponies visiting, the day hike possibilities, etc. Yet, except for the river & ponies (I think the ponies are a short hike away), these things are also near the orchard with the added bonus of more trees.

I too will go wherever, , , if I can go.

    Time To Choose!

DUE TO THE MINIMAL NUMBER OF VOTES / VOTERS, THIS POLL WILL CLOSE AS OF FRIDAY AM AT 0600!

IF YOU HAVE A PREFERENCE, NOW IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO VOTE.

ALSO, FOR THE SAME REASON: THE SITE SELECTION POLL WILL CLOSE AT THAT TIME!

ALSO: The dates for voting has been narrowed to Jan 15 - 17 OR 29 - 31 ONLY!
(um, Moderators if you could make that happen? Thanks!)

    Thank you for playing!!

Friday PM I'll post a "Who's coming & what is you bringing?" topic.

Thanks for your work on this planning Doc. Sorry that there's not been more help in making calls on dates & location. I guess we do need to have something concrete that people can make a decision about, as well as make plans w/ work, other events, travel, etc.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I'd like to nominate Slowhike to be my proxy. The wind is a serious element to consider, and the Wise shelter area rhododendrons protected us from the freight train flying up the mountain last year. I have never been to either of the other shelter areas, so I can't vote for or against either of them. The Wise shelter area was great, but it's always good to see something new. I'd prefer to go back to Wise if the others are seriously exposed, but, since Slowhike knows the area, shares my concerns about the wind, and is known far and wide as a man of great wisdom, I'd like him to cast my vote for me.

Actually, are we not supposed to camp further away from the shelter than we did at Wise?

There certainly is lots more room that we did not use.

I remember last year when I was hiking in that area there were signs that prohibited camping in the area. I am not sure about the details.

Couldn't agree more. Keep in mind that alot of new hangers will be coming to the hang. If their insulation isn't up to par and they have to bail, it would be better to have a short walk in the dark vs. a long hike. Also, last year we had a couple of injuries...

    Well said!
I'm not truly involved anymore, so I withhold any further comment*, after all, in effect I don't really care. At this point I'm just a facilitator not a participant. I'm even willing to withdraw my Old Orchard vote, so 8 for Old Orchard to 4 for Wise as of a few seconds ago.

Have fun guys, toast a marshmallow to me Saturday.
