    Hammock Seat

Just finished up a hammock seat for this years hunting trips. Turkey season isn't too far off and this should work great! I decided to go with the old school trebark camo and really like how it turned out. This fabric is pretty heavy so I may whip up another one out of bedsheets or ripstop for backpacking trips. Any other hunters on here?

I suspect that hiking pole won't make it through the first sit. I have the hammock seat that uses the same concept with a steel telescoping pole. It takes on a lot of force.

Very cool looking seat.....I'd be curious to see if it (pole) will work for this. Please report back how this setup works. Thanks for sharing

If you use the hiking pole, add a rubber tip so the normal tip doesn't cut through the bark leaving an entry for disease, fungus and insects to attack.

Looks like it would work great and be comfortable. The upper strap takes the load, the stick just pushes the bottom out. Why not sew a pocket for the handle to locate within?

A hiking pole will work as long as you don't extend it out too far. I made a seat like this and used a hiking pole. I bent one when I was experimenting with different lengths to see what made the most comfortable position. If you use one with twist locks and they aren't good then it could slip and collapse. I didn't use mine for any real length of time so I can't attest to any long term durability.

The trekking pole has worked without any issue or even the slightest sign of failure in the sits I've done so far. I weigh about 175. A friend of mine made something similar last year and has used a trekking pole without any issues. He's up around 200#. He just gathered the end on the pole side and the trekking pole kind of just found its on resting place. I suppose a sewn in pocket would work . I know the picture doesn't show much detail but I made a little cup out of nylon webbing for the trekking pole handle to sit in. Works great so far. Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think the tip of the pole will actually go into the tree. I've set it up to go more into the dirt at the base of the tree and Im still able to pivot without issue.

Can you post dimensions of the fabric for this seat. I would like to make something like this to use as a seat while hiking/hunting and gear storage at camp.

Hiking pole should be fine as stated above just don't extend it to far. I've used fairly small down tree limbs while out in the woods and they work fine without breaking. Being able to hang from one tree is nice. Great job!
