    Decision time

I ordered a 11' Nighthawk double layer from dream hammock and now I am interested in a under quilt. While at FHV I had the chance to check out UGQ products. I like what I saw and felt! So it's decision time!

I am 6'4" and i would like a quilt to cover every inch of 6'4"

I am located in Florida. but I make hiking trips to GA, TN, NC and WA. Looking for something I can vent.

    Lite weight would be nice.

    What options do I have?

    Pack Hook Modification needed?

I would suggest to talk to UGQ on what they can do to shave a few ounces off.

Next, determine the absolute lowest temp you'll be hanging in, then get the next lowest rating UQ. Or you can get the low temp rating + an ounce or 2 overstuff. Example, the lowest temp rating in FL is low 20's so I would get the 20*F UQ with 1 ounce overstuff.

North of Florida, you can get into the teens or single digits so I would go with the 0*F rated UQ. UGQ is conservative in their temp ratings to make sure all cold and warm sleepers alike can achieve at least the rated temp and lower.

The fabric is already lightweight and down very compressable. Getting 850 fill is also lighter than 700 fill because it takes less down to reach a certaing temp rating.

UGQ has an UQ mod to fit perfect with Dream Hammocks. Talk to them.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I've had their 0*F quilts down to -10*F with regular socks, insulated nylon pants, and a t-shirt. And I was toasty warm. I sleep under the covers, so at 5'10" I went with a 7 foot top quilt to envelope me. I went with the insulated foot box, and went custom, I have the Viking Shield top quilt. They love custom work, so come up with a custom idea and let them run with it, worth a little extra to get a cup holder when you buy a Ferrari.

    I live in Florida and I have a 3\4 uq rated to 20 & a tq rated to 20.
If I did it all again I would get a full uq rated to 0 & a 0 tq that is over stuffed.
Our humidity here can make it feel a lot colder when just hanging around.
You can always vent the heat but when your cold its just miserable and no fun.
I have a 32 degree synthetic mummy bag that keeps me much warmer than my 20 tq it just doesn't pack down as small unfortunately.
I have an uqp from 2qzq that's worth its weight in gold to me blocking that heat stealing wind is key to comfort for myself at least.

As usual, Floridahanger has covered most of the bases there. I will second his suggestion to talk directly with Paul and Missy: they're going to know their product better than anyone else out there. (Huh, just realized I got to use all three versions of "there, their," and "they're" in the same sentence there...not often that that happens...)

They'll have probably the best suggestions out of any of us, as they're in the business of absolutely knowing what their products can do and what their products can't do.

    Hope it helps!

This will answer the pack hook question for dream hammocks as I asked this question just last week.

    Hi MoomBear,

At 6'4" you could squeeze by with a Full Length but for a few $$ more the LONG will have all 6'4" of you covered. We have HD800 and HD850 down fill available now, HD700 has been removed from the site since late last year. Consider the minor weight difference and the cost difference when determining what YOU need and what is important to you in terms of fill power. We also are using a 10d inner fabric which reduces weight and packed volume this is new for 2015. It's available in Charcoal Grey, Jet Black, and Burnt Orange currently, the outer shell is a 15d for durability... Other options include over stuff and pack hook mod, I personally love the pack hook mod and use it each and every time I'm in the hammock. Locks the quilt in place with no chance of it moving.

Over stuff is a personal choice based on your intend use and metabolism. If you tend to sleep cold by all means add some over stuff... Send us an email if you have any additional questions, it's the best way for you to reach us.
    Happy Hangin'
