I think you can safely consider & as just an ampersand character ( '&' ) which got rendered oddly.

I don't see it at all on the acronym page linked in my signature line or post titles. I'm guessing a glitch with your (Canadian?) browser may be the cause. Actually I don't have a clue.

Looks like the & is being treated as code when inside a field like is in a profile.
I frequently see this in the html bar for the web address for threads. If the thread includes an ampersand sign in its title, it shows up in the thread address as "&".
