    Tryin' 'er out

Seems appropriate that I bring the hot chocolate for Friday evening. Ghana chocolate cut with Venezuelan milk chocolate--hearty for a cold night.

Think I'll toss my wife's down bag in the car to rig up as an UQ if the weather looks chilly. How far's the hike from the Co-op?

a little less than a mile. We get to do some climbing. There's a section of the trail....I think it is between Velvet Rocks and Hanover, where the trail maintainers (Dartmouth Outing Club) put in a rope to help make the scramble up and down <grin>

Hey i just called the co-op and before i could Finnish my sentence i was told that they dont allow over night parking the parking garage isn't far at all form the trail head either and if you would like a farther hike there are two options one you could start in Etna witch is a little village that is part of Hanover i think this would be more like 3 miles or you could go all the way up to the trail head on three mile road witch on one side brings you strait up to south peak of moose mountain (a fun hike i have done many times) or the other direction brings you down into etna where you could start for a three mile and then to velvet rocks and i think that this is 5 miles but my numbers could be wrong. I will be able to get exact numbers up later this night if you would like.

don't worry About caring gear through town we have through hikers here all summer (even some of the telephone poles have blase on them) it would be easy to get from the garrage to the trail. less then five a minuet walk.

on a different note GrizzlyAdams would that quilt you may be able to bring be usable are an uq if so that would be awesome.

Not surprised. They take their parking permission cues from Dartmouth Parking Services no doubt. But seriously, it is a small parking lot and they can't realistically have a policy of letting people use it for a trailhead parking lot.

that is your need, and so that is my intention.

If I come I have two under quilts I can let two people use. This all depends on if I come though. I have a JRB Nest and I have a KAQ. The deal is I am not carrying them in though. If I come and someone wants to use then they have to carry them in.

I'd be interested in trying out an UQ to see how it works. Will certainly carry it in.
