    VIDEO: A Night In MyHammy

On the eve of the "Blizzard of 2015" I decided to spend A Night In MyHammy. This was a backyard test in preparation for a 3 day trip coming up this weekend, specifically looking at a piece of shock cord I installed in the middle on my HammockGear Incubator to help hold it up on my backside. Overall it was a success and I plan on making this a part of my normal set-up.

Visit - www.hammockgear.com for all your top and under quilt needs.

    Thanks for watching

Enjoyed the report Rob. Looks like you guys did not get the snow forecasted but you did get the cold. Good test, nice gear.

Nice report Rob. I may try the shock cord over ridge next time.

I'm going to be working on a diy top quilt, if my stuff ever gets here. I think the weather played a role in delivery from Diygearsupply....ugh

Ahh, so that's pre-coffee Rob, huh?

Great job, looks like you're well-prepared. I like that snap idea - hafta try that on my DIY TQ.
Any idea on temps? Was the wind a problem? Can't say I've slept out in extreme wind yet, so I'm curious...

Thanks O&B - I am going to get my mileage in the backwoods up this weekend!

It was a simple solution to ensure my down stayed up - seemed to work fine. Make sure you post pic/video of your TQ, I love to see stuff made I never could make! The waiting is the hardest part... - Rob

Ain't tha the truth - "squirrel"

The snaps work very well like that, keeps the TQ up. It got down to about 10F and I was more than fine. I learned last year not to "over dress" - I had on a pair of old long johns and a pair of fleece PJ pants, on the top a long sleeve synthetic shirt, a synthetic pull over with thumb holes and a down jacket then my fav bean face balaclava and my toque.

I do have a UQ protector that I use when windy and I think simply pitching my tarp low won't be enough, I chanced it last night and ended up fine. My head was pointed NW (the direction of the wind) and with the doors closed I didn't feel much. However, a few times I woke up due to the howling. We only gusted to about 30MPH a few times.

Biggest lesson learned, bring coffee to the back yard

The shock cord idea seems like a good one and appears to offer good bit of flexibility. Thanks for sharing.

It works very well. Last night I slept out again (got down to 1F) and was still nice and warm. Thanks
