    Snakeskins

Is there any such thing as snakeskins that fit a hammock and tarp together? I have a Blackbird single and a Superfly tarp. Someone on another forum I read posted that she made snakeskins that do this and she clips a carabiner to each end and hangs them at the same time and it only takes her a couple minutes to hang, which of course is great when it's pouring! I don't sew, don't own a sewing machine and don't want to learn so don't suggest it . I just want to find one already made that I can buy that will make my life easier.
I jumped on the back of a butterfly
We took off high into the sky
We flipped, we flew, we turned, we fluttered
    "Enjoying yourself?" the butterfly uttered
"Surely!" I said as we lit on a flower

You could probably use the regular sized lazy slug tube and still have room to spare.

Just know that packing up the wet tarp with the dry hammock = wet hammock.

Most of us pack our tarps and suspensions separate from our hammocks for that purpose.

Slug tube is great for hammock and quilts together though. Super sweet.

Why would you want to pack your potentially soaking wet tarp with you dry hammock?

I just can't find any possible reason to pack tarp and hammock in the same snakeskins: I suppose if all you did was one-nighters and don't mind a wet hammock because you never camp for two nights.

If you want to keep everything neat and tidy, maybe get another set of Snake Skins for the tarp? Then you can stuff all your Snake Skin'd gear into a dry sack or something...

I think that you will find most folks here will side with your first 3 responses. If it's raining when you got to set up getting to and pitching your tarp first means that you and the rest of your gear can get under the tarp and be sheltered while you get the rest of your gear unpacked. Many of us pack our tarps on the top of or on the outside of our packs just for this reason. Your also able to get a better pitch hanging the tarp independently from the hammocks suspension. When you got to leave you can reverse the process...pack your hammock, quilts and other gear under the still pitched tarp where you are dry and then pull down the tarp last. Many packs now have an external mesh pocket of some sort and it works perfectly as a place to put a wet tarp where all that water won't soak the rest of your gear.

And that's why I came here! Because you guys are the pros. I never thought about packing up wet stuff together. I was only thinking about setting up as quickly as possible in the rain. I had a set of snakeskins for my tarp and I stupidly tried to stuff my hammock in there instead and busted the skins. Who sells those things? And thanks for not making me feel stupid.

Making people feel stupid is not what "we're" about. Working through problems and hopefully coming up with the best solution is why forums like this exist. We can all benefit from other's past experiences :-) Good or bad.

Thanks Paul. Good to know we're on the side of a pro :-)
