    New hammock camper here

I'm wanting to get an under quilt, with so many great options, I figured I should ask some of the more experienced people here. I'm wanting to do some cold weather camping, but figure I will just need at least a 30 degree under quilt. So with all the great ones I have been reading about, which do yall think I should get. Keep in mind, I am budget conscience. Thanks in advance.

Get a 20° underquilt. They are the most versatile ones.

Not on a budget but very frugal, I went with a HG 20° Incubator full length & a Jarbrdge from Arrowhead. Both are excellent quality. Once you decide full or short, down or synthetic, all of the vendors here on the forum produce quality products.

I too have and use a 30* Hammock Gear Underquilt. A few key criteria in my decision were:

    1) argon fabric which is down proof
    2) differential cut design which matches your body shape when laying in the hammock thus maximizing performance
    3) the ability to customize colors of fabric and get just what I want

Hammock Gear met all 3 of my criteria. To order a 30* quilt you have to use the "custom" tab on their website, but I would suggest just sending an email or calling and Adam can talk you through how to do it.

Please post a picture and let us know what you end up with!

Thanks for the advice guys, I suppose I should tell y'all a little more about my setup. I'm using a grand trunk double hammock, and I believe I would want a full size quilt. I have recently been checking out UGQ and it looks like they have some awesome stuff.

UGQ does indeed have awesome stuff - can't go wrong there, except its also not the cheapest option. Enlightened Equipment is normally not the least expensive option either, except that for down quilts they have lots of options to dial in for what your needs are to maximize value, AND they have good syn quilts as well with similar options. Arrowhead Equipment's New River is a great value in a syn full UQ.

p.s. and for what its worth, Molly Mac (on OutdoorTrailGear.com) has a great value for a TQ for down to 30.

Common a pair of mattresses, downsleepingbag and hot water bottles will make it comfy!

Don't have experience with any production under quilt but if USPS tracking is correct I will be testing a 3 season New River from KickAssQuilts by Saturday evening. Forecast is for 31*F with 80% rain and or snow. Should be a good test for my brand new DIY winter tarp as well.

I'll check out molly mac, thanks for the advice. I've looked at the new river and it seems pretty nice, interested to see how it turns out for you.

I think I'm between the Incubator 20 and the Zepplin 20, unless there is something that is as good but a little cheaper.
