    Hambunk System

I'm looking to piece together a pares/SMR. like hambunk system. I have a Tenth Wonder 2.5 meter long hammock for the top. Just need to buy a longer wider hammock for the bottom. Would like to have only one tree strap and carabiner per tree for both hammocks. Any ideas about what kind of hammock I should buy that would fit? I don't want to pay the heavy price for the real deal.

Just briefly looking at the 'ham bunk' system, with a 2.5 meter top bunk, you would need a 3-3.3 meter bottom bunk. Note, in this setup, there's no room for a ridgeline on the bottom bunk, because the top will occupy that space.

What are you looking to achieve? It would help to know what you want to do and why.

I'm thinking that the 2,5 m. hammock will be the ridgeline for the bottom hammock. The plan is to take my son with me this summer. Its a bit cold for him now. So I have some time to figure it out. Does this sound crazy to achieve by mixing hammocks and accessories? It seems to work for the real deal.(smr). What hammocks r out there that are about the length that I need? 3m. Ticket to the moon XL that would be long enough. Would like to choose between more. Or even make one.

Or have both hammocks on the same 2 trees. Instead of having your tree slings centered, offset them so they pull from the sides of the tree giving your 2 hammocks the width of a tree apart.

This is my plan with my son this summer. He's four, and I've already rigged up an 8' hammock under his loft bed.

I figure I can tie both side by side off opposite sides of the same trees. Others have done this if you search a bit on here.

I'm thinking that he'll go a little lower than me, and that we'll have to sleep on the same diagonal. Tests will be happening in the spring.

I also like it, because Fronkey bug nets will make it easy for me to get to him in the night if need be. I'd be afraid to sleep right above him in case of a malfunction, and I'd be afraid to have him above me, because it's too high for him to get in and out by himself. Think safe!

Plan for a bigger tarp also. Like a 10x11 or even a kelty noah 12

You could use the Double Hammock Whoopie Hooks and go the side by side route.
    Good luck,

I, too, would recommend the 3-trees-2-hammocks(-1-tarp) set-up. Here are a couple of threads on this topic:

    Here is another solution:

If you want to stick with your bunk bed idea and just need a longer hammock, there are a couple of hammock sellers in Europe:

UK Hammocks sells inexpensive no-net hammocks - the Woodsman and Woodsman Lite Hammock. The length is 3m. If you need a longer hammock, you could ask - I'm sure they can make you a custom hammock.

Paradise Hammocks sells super long parachute hammocks for a reasonable price. 3.5m might be a bit too long, but you could always whip it to shorten it.

You could also look for a Ticket to the Moon hammock. The adult hammocks are 3.20m long.

You might find other suitable offers on the European eBay-sites.

Of course you could also DIY. It's not too easy to find suitable fabric that doesn't cost an arm and a leg in Europe, but you could always order from Dutch or Ripstopbytheroll.
