I'm temp testing 2 layers of 5.0 tonight! Going to sew up a UQP today to help, but really hoping to be comfy at -10F. Will let you know if that's true or not.

Thanks for the reminder! Only got to -4, but with UQP I was very comfortable. Polypropylene long johns, heavy winter bag as TQ, no hot water bottles or anything.

sounds like that combo would get you well into -10's and maybe even lower with some added clothing. what did you make your uqp out of? ive seen a few guys make it out of sil or tyvek and im looking to make one for mine to help push it just a little lower. thanks for the info

Good to know apex 5 + 5 can do -4, for you at least. Thanks for reporting your test!

I agree I can take it a bit lower - just need colder weather to test in!! UQP is just 1.1 rip stop, DWR, uncalendared. Really seems to help keep the heat in, winds have been pretty strong in southern WI when I've tested. Also, am using a Superfly, so that helps a bit too.
